Do you have lamps that you don't use because you don't like the look ....

Updated: Apr 19

There is an easy change to update the look. First you can paint the base. I have owned this lamp for years and since it is traditional /transitional I have kept it. I loved the base but was tired of the dark color. I grabbed some materials: Fabric and trim for the lamp shade makeover. I measured the surface of the lamp shade to figure out the fabric about.

Half a yard of fabric and trim 1 yard (always buy extra so you don't run out)

Glue Gun

Paint (Flat )

I have a cutting board for cutting fabric on top of and a rotary cutter but scissors work perfectly.

he lamp shade has seen better times but a french style shade so when adding a fabric to it , it just made it so much brighter and refreshed.

*If you see the lamp above , I decided to leave the base the brown to give it contrast.

Depending on your style in your home there are many fabric choices with many possibilities for you.

In the video I described how I applied the fabric . I did cut panels to go on each side of the shade. This is a “no see” project. I hot glued the fabric onto the top of shade and along the binding of each side . I folded the bric in to give it a finished look.
